Time art

For my time art piece I chose some work of my own that I made about a year ago.  I created two circular forms, using collected hair, weave, permanent hair relaxer, and pomade.  This piece was created as a commentary on Black hair care and self perception. Permanent hair relaxer not only takes away from the natural curly texture of Black hair, but sometimes has more damaging effects, such as hair falling out or being destroyed.

On the left hand side is an image of the circle after being given a fresh treatment of permanent relaxer, while the right hand side, a less vibrant circle, has had the relaxer sitting for a duration of 6 months.
