I am not much of a fan of performance art, but I actually enjoyed this performance by Miao Jianxiao at the Station Museum. I believe in this day and age, we see everything digitally which takes away the importance of certain elements. With Miao Jianxiao's piece I personally felt that I would have not enjoyed it if I saw it online, rather than in person. Miao immediately creates an atmosphere and environment with a carefully chosen track for his piece. There is also an intimacy and relationship when you view the piece between you as the viewer and audience and then with the artist. And finally an interactive part which Miao himself asks the audience in the crowd to shoot him with an air rifle.
