Art Parade
When I looked up “art parade” on Google, all I got were articles on the Art Car Parade in Houston, but after a bit of digging, I managed to find a spectacular-looking lantern parade held in Atlanta (https://art.beltline.org/lantern-parade/). It’s been around since 2010, and people are encouraged to create their own unique lanterns to show off. It seems it’s held in September. They have photos from all seven years, and some of them are truly breathtaking. Here are some that I found from last year:

Art Car Museum
This was really fun, I love they showcase other artists on the walls. Especially the ones with the White Sands photos (if you haven't go you have to they are awesome) I can't wait for the parade. I saw my friends posting cars in front of the Valenti school sadly I'm not on campus on Tuesdays.
Blaffer Thesis Show
I went to see the opening of the thesis show on Friday, and I was extremely excited about what I saw. As a painter, I was mostly infatuated with Charris Amon’s work: I’ve never seen paintings that enormous in real life, and they were beautifully rendered. I was also thrilled to see a Lebanese artist from the same city my family comes from (Tripoli) and I absolutely gushed about to my mother later— she was equally excited. His pieces really resonated with me, especially the story about the kaak (a kind of bread eaten with cheese or za’atar); I had a similar experience as a kid.
And finally, my favorite piece from the entire show, by Heather (I forget her last name, whoops):

Pure gold.
Statue of Four Lies
I’m a little late on this, I know, but I did go to see the Statue of Four Lies on campus. I’m embarrassed to admit that it took me about an hour of walking around to find it; I walked along the perimeter of the Moody Towers, and as I gave up and began the dejected trek back to the art building, a glimmer of bronze caught my eye, and lo and behold, it’d been right freaking there the entire time (beside the Hilton, that is: I’d walked right by it without realizing).

Statue of Four Lies
I was always confused by this statue. I never understood the positioning of the statues or what was going on but now after hearing about it in class it makes more sense. I love that there is a puzzle solving aspect to this piece about discovering the four lies.
Box Office Art
I really liked this piece. It reminded me a lot of rain and what it would look like if you could pause rain in motion. It was really hard to photograph because of the size of the beads. Overall the it is really beautiful and from underneath looking up it is quite mesmerizing.
