Rock Art, Houston Sculpture

Inspired by our lecture on rock art, I decided to write a post about a Houston sculptor, David Adickes.  David Adickes mainly sculpts large scale presidential busts (as can be seen in my photos from visiting his former studio at SculpturWorx here in Houston before it relocated in 2015.)  His outdoor studio served as an exciting roadside attraction in the city for many years.  Adickes sculpted the large Sam Houston statue that can be seen on I-45 in Huntsville about 70 miles outside of the city. He has also sculpted large scale figures of the Beatles and Charlie Chaplin, in addition to Houston's beloved "We love Houston" sign (1816 Thompson St). He has been an important public artist in Houston for many years.
